The Cubs enter at 76-56, outpacing Arizona's 69-63 record, and are riding a two-game win streak while Arizona has dropped their last game. The Diamondbacks' rotation is decimated — Corbin Burnes, Zac Gallen, and Cristian Mena are all on the injured list — leaving them with a vulnerable pitching staff that the Cubs' lineup can exploit to cover the -1.5 on the road.

Real Madrid is an injury-ravaged mess heading into Matchweek 1 — Militão, Rodrygo, Asencio, Ferland Mendy, and Endrick are ALL out, gutting both their defensive and attacking options. Real Sociedad arrives with a full squad headlined by Kubo, Oyarzabal, and Sucic, more than capable of frustrating a patchwork Madrid lineup. Nobody respects La Real on the road, but give me the +2.0 cushion against a team playing shorthanded at the back — this underdog covers all day long!
The sheep are hammering Boston because Sonny Gray is a Cy Young frontrunner at 16-3, but the crowd is ignoring that the Marlins are a scorching 40-25 at home — one of the best home records in baseball — while the Red Sox are a pedestrian 33-32 away from Fenway. Miami is also a solid 17-14 in one-run games, meaning they know how to grind out close ones, and with +1.5 runs of cushion against even a great pitcher, you're getting free equity that the public is leaving on the table. Fade the narrative, back the number.
The Guardians have won five straight — including two dominant victories over these same Angels in the current series — and now send Joey Cantillo (9-7, 3.73 ERA) to the mound against Gustavo Rodriguez (4-5, 6.41 ERA), a massive pitching mismatch. Los Angeles sits at 52-81 with a brutal 3-6 August record, while Cleveland is locked in a playoff chase with a team ERA of 3.73 versus the Angels' 4.26. Getting a surging team with the superior starter at PLUS money against a last-place opponent is exactly the kind of value The Sharp lives for.
Cleveland sends P. Messick to the mound boasting a stellar 2.54 ERA with a high-strikeout slider arsenal, while the Angels are decimated by injuries — Nolan Schanuel (intercostal strain) and Wade Meckler (concussion) are both on the IL, severely draining LA's run production. The Guardians are 6-4 in their last 10 games and have a dominant pitching edge on a weakened Angels offense, making Cleveland -1.5 at plus money an excellent value spot.

Boston sends Sonny Gray (2.79 ERA, 16-3) to the mound — one of baseball's elite starters — while Miami is forced to go without ace Max Meyer (IL, neck) and key bullpen arms Andrew Nardi and Robby Snelling (both on the 60-day IL). The Red Sox have a massive pitching advantage tonight, and elite starters covering -1.5 is the most reliable bet in baseball.
Nobody wants to back Detroit at home? Fine, more value for the rest of us — the Rays are beat up with Griffin Jax (SP, elbow), Cole Sulser, Edwin Uceta, and multiple position players already on the IL, while the Tigers are trotting out Tyler Melton with a filthy 1.71 ERA to take the mound. Detroit gets +1.5 cushion at home against a depleted Tampa Bay squad that can barely field a healthy bullpen, and the scrappy Tigers have every reason to keep this one close or steal it outright. Everyone's sleeping on the Tigers — that's exactly when they bite back!
The sheep are blindly backing Milwaukee giving 1.5, but the Brewers are a walking MASH unit — Frelick, Pratt, and Turang all compromised — while throwing Robert Stock (5.40 ERA, 1.68 WHIP) in a must-win spot. The Mets get to stay home at Citi Field and only need to avoid getting blown out to cover +1.5, which is basically a gift against this banged-up, undermanned Brewers squad. The crowd picked Milwaukee and the crowd is, as always, dead wrong.
Colorado is a 50-80 disaster but getting +1.5 at juicy -163 against a Nationals squad riddled with injuries (James Wood on IL, CJ Abrams DTD, multiple bullpen arms gone) and sitting just 61-71 themselves. The Rockies are on a 4-game skid but so are the Nationals (L6 streak), and at Coors-neutral road conditions, getting a run-and-a-half of cushion against a Washington team ranked 26th in ERA makes this spread virtually unbeatable — Colorado just needs to keep it within one.
The Yankees are decimated by injuries — Aaron Judge (60-day IL, stress fracture), Max Fried (15-day IL), Cody Bellinger (10-day IL), Ryan McMahon (10-day IL), and Clarke Schmidt (60-day IL) are all unavailable — gutting both their lineup and rotation. Meanwhile, the Astros, despite losing Correa and Burrows, still have a potent offense led by Yordan Alvarez, making them excellent +1.5 insurance bets against a shorthanded Yankees squad. Getting the Astros with a 1.5-run cushion at -171 is justified given New York's roster depth concerns and the Astros' ability to compete even in road losses.
